Global Safety Innovation (GSI) is an industry-focused organisation dedicated to advancing operational learning on a global scale. Emerging from the success of the 2024 Safety Innovation Summit, GSI bridges academia and industry to translate evidence-based safety science into practical, real world improvements across high risk sectors.

As a ‘for purpose’ initiative, GSI profits are reinvested directly into industry led research, learning programs, events and innovation.

INDUSTRY-LED PHD RESEARCH INITIATIVE

GSI is launching an industry-led and funded PhD research program to drive innovation in how health and safety performance is measured and improved. Rooted in the principle of “for industry, by industry,” the program connects academia and industry to ensure research delivers practical, operational impact.This initiative is grounded in real industry needs and will evolve over time,with the goal of funding a new PhD research project each year.

Each project will be designed to address complex, high-impact challenges with academic rigour and industry relevance.

THINK TANKS, EVENTS & ONLINE LEARNING

GSI Think Tanks are designed to drive real change in workplace safety through high impact collaboration. Each session is limited to a small group of participants to maximise engagement, enable deep discussion, and ensure quality of outcomes.

These Think Tanks are not passive discussion. They are structured as practical agile sprints, where participants co-create solutions with peers and experts. Sessions frame a specific industry challenge, followed by facilitated discussions to evaluate key areas for improvement and identify practical experiments that can be immediately trialled within their organisations.

To complement the Think Tanks, GSI hosts a dynamic calendar of events and online learning opportunities, including:

  • Regular webinars featuring global thought leaders and operational experts who bring fresh insight, experience and thinking to critical safety topics.

  • Networking events (both virtual and in-person) designed to connect professionals across sectors and disciplines.

  • Live events including regional meetups and learning forums that extend the impact of our Think Tank topics to a broader audience.

Together, these offerings form a holistic learning ecosystem that empowers organisations to continuously evolve their safety practices through collaboration, evidence, and innovation.

GLOBAL SAFETY INNOVATION SUMMIT IS RETURNING

The Global Safety Innovation Summit was a high impact event that brought together operational leaders, people managers, legal professionals, and executives to prioritise workplace safety beyond traditional silos.

Focused on turning theory into practice, it featured TED Talk style presentations and interactive problem solving workshops, ensuring hands-on learning and real world application.

The Global Safety Innovation Summit is scheduled to return in Q4 2026/ Q1 2027 and will build upon the success of the 2024 event, further advancing the conversation on workplace safety and operational learning.

With an enhanced focus on practical application, industry collaboration, and emerging safety innovations, the next Summit will continue to bridge theory and practice to drive real impact. Dates and locations will be announced soon, with details to follow on how to participate and contribute to shaping the future of safety.
